Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc, a Black & Veatch company, seeks an Apprentice for Construction Equipment Operation. You will receive classroom and on-the-job training to operate heavy equipment, learn lift plans, and follow safety standards.

The role requires 0–9 months of operator experience, a valid CDL when needed, and completion of pre-employment checks. Expect physical, outdoor work on infrastructure projects with strong emphasis on safety and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• 0–9 months experience or 0–1500 hours as an equipment operator.
• Commercial driver's license is required when the equipment will be operated on public roads.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Safety and Work Habits: demonstrate positive working habits and attendance.
• Operate Heavy-Duty Construction or Installation Equipment and Machinery.
• Load, move, and unload materials and equipment; use tools and machinery.
• Review blueprints, plans, or diagrams to identify work requirements.
• Locate underground services prior to beginning work.
