Summary
Operate power machinery at heavy construction projects for purposes of construction, demolition or excavation. Measure and verify levels of rock or gravel, base and other excavated material. Direct workers assisting with the operation of heavy equipment such as moving stakes or makers, spotting, and assisting with lifts. Operate hand and power tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Knowledge of equipment that will be used for each project. Ability to maintain equipment in good and safe working conditions. Understanding of a safe trench. Ability to locate and uncover pipes, conduit, and other items underground safely and effectively. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Reading blueprints, obtaining relevant information to perform daily tasks and combining pieces of information to form conclusions about a task. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense for the current tasks and entire project.
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving and balancing your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Ability to use hands, arms and feet in operation of equipment. Monitoring and reviewing information, events, or the environment to detect problems.
Education, Experience, and Skills
High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience. At least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
OSHA 10 required
Physical Requirements
Exposure to all forms of weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, windy) for part or the entire workday. Exposure to wastewater on certain projects. Exposure to constant or intermittent noise of a level sufficient to cause distraction. May be required to work 10-hour days for 6 or 7 consecutive days for extended periods of time.
