Job summary

Royal-American-Construction in the United States is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to safely run bulldozers, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and related machinery on civil utilities projects. This role involves moving heavy materials, digging ditches, placing pipes, and supporting crews.

Job Summary:Under supervision of the Job Site Foreman, this position is primarily responsible for safely operating construction equipment (bulldozers, backhoes, trench excavators, skid steers, etc.) that moves heavy materials, excavates gravel and earth, drives piles into the ground, or spreads and levels asphalt, concrete, and other paving material. The incumbent will be required to fill in as needed with other jobs at work site during down times (IE. Laborer). Typical schedules are Monday Friday, with weekends required as needed.Incumbent is expected to have excellent attendance and communication skills, possess the ability to build lasting business relationships, and exhibit professionalism.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:This is a description of the major responsibilities of this position. This is a summary and is not meant to include all activities that may be required to successfully perform in this job.Perform and report on, daily safety and maintenance checksWork with and assist the crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, excavator, or front-end loaderPlace, remove or maintain underground utilities as directed. This includes but is not limited to: carrying pipe, bags of material, and other heavy items, jack hammering, shoveling, tamping, and installing pipe, duct, or cableOperate equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, materials, and suppliesAssist in restoring worksite at completion of daily workOperate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and proceduresLoad and unload equipment from vehicles and trailersEnsure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuseComplete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentationNotify the General Superintendent/ Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damageKnowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):Work under multiple time constraintsNavigate driveways, alleyways, lots, high traffic roadways and may operate in tight overhead environments while on industrial routesHighly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this jobEducation and Experience:High School Diploma or EquivalentPrevious experience in civil utilities preferredPrevious experience driving heavy equipment in a construction environment:Equipment Operator I: One to two years experienceEquipment Operator II: Two to five years experienceEquipment Operator III: Over five years experiencePhysical Demands:Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 poundsExposure to an environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements throughout the workdayMust have a valid driver's license.Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance of duty on secured locations. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of an offer.
