Job summary

Alter Trading Corp. is seeking a Full Time Production role in Ogallala, NE. The position involves operating heavy equipment in a yard setting, unloading and loading trucks and rail cars with scrap, and ensuring loads meet safety standards.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (preferred but not required) and prior experience with heavy machinery or semi-tractor/trailer driving (training provided). Ability to lift 30–50 lbs regularly, 100+ lbs with a partner is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Prior experience operating heavy machinery and driving a semi-tractor/trailer preferred but not required as we will train candidates.
• Basic machine maintenance knowledge a plus.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.

Responsibilities

• Unloads customer vehicles including small or medium trucks or semi-trailers
• Sorts material in appropriate areas
• Loads trucks and rail cars with scrap material
• Ensures torch cutter is supplied with material to torch
• Inspects all loads according to yard standards, ensuring rail cars and semi-trailers are safe to leave the yard
• Inspects all inbound/outbound material
• Greases and changes oil on machine. Handles minor maintenance duties on the crane.
• Some hand sorting and labor also may be required
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Summary

Under supervision, operates material handler, similar style to an excavator, as well as other Heavy Equipment including wheel loader and articulating dump truck. in a facility, unloading or loading trucks, semis, rail cars with material, sorting material in yard.

Safety:

Wears all necessary PPE when working in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow standards, may result in loss of position.
