Alter Trading in Nebraska seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to support yard operations, loading/unloading scrap, sorting materials, and maintaining equipment. The role requires operating excavator-like equipment, wheel loaders, and dump trucks, with training provided as needed.

You will inspect loads, ensure safety, and perform basic maintenance. Experience with heavy machinery and semi-trailers is preferred but not required; lifting heavy loads and following PPE safety standards are essential

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Prior experience operating heavy machinery and driving a semi-tractor/trailer preferred but not required as we will train candidates.
• Basic machine maintenance knowledge a plus.
• Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs and 100+ lbs with a 2-person lift.

Responsabilidades

• Unloads customer vehicles including small or medium trucks or semi-trailers.
• Sorts material in appropriate areas.
• Loads trucks and rail cars with scrap material.
• Ensures torch cutter is supplied with material to torch.
• Inspects all loads according to yard standards; ensures rail cars and semi-trailers are safe to leave the yard.
• Inspects all inbound/outbound material.
• Greases and changes oil on machine; handles minor maintenance on the crane.
• Some hand sorting and labor may be required.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Under supervision, operates material handler, similar style to an excavator, as well as other Heavy Equipment including wheel loader and articulating dump truck. in a facility, unloading or loading trucks, semis, rail cars with material, sorting material in yard.

• Unloads customer vehicles including small or medium trucks or semi-trailers
• Sorts material in appropriate areas
• Loads trucks and rail cars with scrap material
• Ensures torch cutter is supplied with material to torch
• Inspects all loads according to yard standards, ensuring rail cars and semi-trailers are safe to leave the yard
• Inspects all inbound/outbound material
• Greases and changes oil on machine. Handles minor maintenance duties on the crane.
• Some hand sorting and labor also may be required
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Safety:

Wears all necessary PPE when working in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow standards, may result in loss of position.
