Job summary

Alter Trading in Ogallala, NE seeks a production worker to operate heavy equipment and assist with loading, unloading, and sorting in a yard environment.

You will work with equipment such as excavator-like handlers, wheel loaders, and dump trucks, performing basic maintenance and ensuring loads meet yard standards. Training is available for candidates with relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Experience operating heavy machinery and driving a semi-tractor/trailer preferred but training provided.
• Ability to lift 30-50 lbs and 100+ lbs with a two-person lift.
• Basic machine maintenance knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Unloads customer vehicles including small or medium trucks or semi-trailers
• Sorts material in appropriate areas
• Loads trucks and rail cars with scrap material
• Inspects loads according to yard standards
• Greases and changes oil on machine; handles minor maintenance on crane
• Some hand sorting and labor may be required
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Salary Range: $22.00 To $23.00 Hourly

Summary

Under supervision, operates material handler, similar style to an excavator, as well as other Heavy Equipment including wheel loader and articulating dump truck. in a facility, unloading or loading trucks, semis, rail cars with material, sorting material in yard.

• Unloads customer vehicles including small or medium trucks or semi-trailers
• Sorts material in appropriate areas
• Loads trucks and rail cars with scrap material
• Ensures torch cutter is supplied with material to torch
• Inspects all loads according to yard standards, ensuring rail cars and semi-trailers are safe to leave the yard
• Inspects all inbound/outbound material
• Greases and changes oil on machine. Handles minor maintenance duties on the crane.
• Some hand sorting and labor also may be required
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Wears all necessary PPE when working in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow standards, may result in loss of position.

Requirements:
