Moltz Constructors seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator for civil and heavy industrial projects across Colorado's remote dam and reservoir sites at elevations around 10,000 feet. This traveling field role requires operating excavators, dozers, loaders and performing grading and trenching while following safety procedures.

You will read plans, coordinate with field teams, and maintain equipment; per diem, lodging options, and potential relocation assistance are provided.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated heavy-equipment operating experience in earthwork, heavy civil or industrial construction.

Heavy Equipment Operator – Civil & Heavy Industrial Projects for Moltz Constructors

Job Overview

• Company: Moltz Constructors
• Salary/Pay Rate: $30.00 – $34.00+ per hour (based on experience)
• Location: Remote Reservoir Sites (Grizzly, Santa Maria, Spring Creek), CO

You will operate heavy machinery on complex civil infrastructure projects throughout Colorado, including remote dam and reservoir sites at elevations around or above 10,000 feet. This is a traveling field position for operators who enjoy challenging projects, working with capable crews and taking ownership of their equipment and production.

Moltz Constructors supports traveling crews with per diem/subsistence and project-based lodging arrangements, which may include campers, shared housing or hotels depending on the assignment. Schedules vary by project, with the company working to provide regular opportunities for employees to return home.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Operate excavators, loaders, dozers and other heavy earthmoving equipment to execute precise grading, digging and backfilling operations.
• Read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, grade stakes and layout markings to achieve specified elevations.
• Implement proper excavation techniques including trench sloping, benching and site-safety measures in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and assist with routine operator-level maintenance such as fluids, filters and basic machine care.
• Move between equipment or assist the field crew when project priorities require it; Moltz values operators with a team-first, “whatever it takes” mentality.
• Maintain awareness of rapidly changing mountain weather, terrain and high-altitude environmental hazards.
• Collaborate with field leadership to maintain production schedules and project quality.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Demonstrated heavy-equipment operating experience in earthwork, heavy civil, industrial or similar construction.
• Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes and layout markings.
• Understanding of trenching, sloping, benching and excavation safety.
• Ability and willingness to work as part of a versatile field crew rather than remaining exclusively in one machine.
• Willingness to travel to remote project sites throughout Colorado and work at high elevation.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• 5–6+ years of heavy-equipment operating experience; highly capable junior operators with strong attitude and fundamentals may also be considered.
• Experience operating multiple types of equipment.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• CDL.
• GPS/machine-control experience.
• Mountain, dam, reservoir, utility or other heavy-infrastructure experience.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine operator maintenance.
