Principal Objective of Position

Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for:

• Safe operation of equipment/trucks used to move material in the yard, which may include manual labor.
• Routine and daily maintenance and cleaning of the equipment.
• Ensuring safety of vendors, customers, contractors, and co-workers in the working area.
• Traveling to off-site yards or customer sites as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Operate heavy equipment, trucks, forklifts, balers, and shears following safety policies.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Complete daily inspection reports.
• Move raw materials and finished components using material handling equipment or manual labor.
• Follow standard operating procedures for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Identify, sort, and separate ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and record weights if equipment has scale capability.
• Assist customers professionally and operate or clean equipment as needed.
• Participate in off-site work for other company sites or customer needs.

Other Responsibilities

• Operate additional equipment if trained.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
