We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Operator. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, operating a variety of heavy machinery to assist in construction and maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery including loaders, Toolcat, skid steer, asphalt pavers, and graders in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and according to specifications. Projects include:
  • Digging out damaged asphalt, patching potholes and street cuts.
  • Street overlay and crack-seal operations, concrete repairs on curb, gutters, and drainage structures, placing and finishing concrete and gravel.
  • Plowing snow, sanding streets, and sweeping streets, gutters, and sidewalks.
• Actively plan for projects and take instructions from supervisors.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures on the job site.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator or a similar role, with at least two years of experience.
• Valid license to operate city vehicles and heavy machinery is required.
• Strong understanding of operational and safety protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in the public sector, construction, or industrial settings is advantageous.

Working Conditions

• Work is primarily outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions.
• The role requires physical strength and stamina due to manual labor.
