Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our construction team. The operator will be responsible for handling a variety of heavy machinery used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings, roads, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with multiple types of equipment, a solid understanding of job site safety, and the ability to work effectively with team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate heavy machinery including, but not limited to:
    • Excavators
    • Bulldozers
    • Backhoes
    • Front-end loaders
    • Graders
    • Skid steers
    • Compact rollers
    • Cranes (if certified)
  • Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment functionality and safety.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and other equipment.
  • Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and other crew members to complete projects on time.
  • Make minor repairs or adjustments to equipment as needed.
  • Keep the job site clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Assist with general construction tasks as assigned “sweeping, shoveling, trash etc..”

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience operating a variety of heavy construction equipment.
  • Solid understanding of machine maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Physical stamina to work outdoors in variable conditions and lift heavy materials.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on large-scale infrastructure or roadwork projects.
  • Familiarity with GPS or grade control systems on machinery.
