Job summary

Venture Metals invites applications for a Full Time Heavy Equipment Operator at our Houston Plant. The role supports scrap metal processing and site maintenance in a fast-paced metal recycling operation.

The ideal candidate will operate grapple cranes, forklifts, skid steers and excavators, perform routine inspections, and help maintain a safe, clean work environment under all weather conditions.

Outdoor, non-climate-controlled environment; PPE provided; strong safety attitude required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as grapple cranes, forklifts, skid steers, and excavators.
• Experience with scrap metal or waste handling is a plus.
• Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Venture Metals +is a fast-growing, metal recycling company looking to grow its operations team withHeavy Equipment Operator at our Houston Plant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Load and unload scrap metal materials with Grapple, forklift, or skid-steers.
• Assist with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment and industrial recycling equipment to minimize downtime and make improvements.
• Observe all safety requirements and lead by example.
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback for coaching.
• Ensure a clean and orderly workplace; clean and prepare sites by removing debris and possible hazards.
• Adhere to, evaluate, and maintain proper service logs and maintenance requirements.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; climb; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Outdoor position (under roofing) in all-weather environments: rain, snow, hot, cold
• Could be exposed to dust, fumes, high noise levels.
• PPE will be required for all employees. PPE includes safety glasses, hard hat, high visibility vest, ear plugs, gloves, steel/composite toed shoes or boots.
• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work outdoors & exposed to all weather elements.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications:

• Some experience operating Grapple crane, forklift, skid steer and excavator operation / maintenance experience (helpful).
• Scrap metal/waste experience is a plus, but not necessary.
