Role Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX, responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment to support excavation, shoring, cofferdam, and dewatering activities on civil and marine projects.

Daily responsibilities include safely operating equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and other machinery, following site plans and instructions from supervisors and forepersons. The role involves performing basic pre- and post-operation equipment inspections, reporting mechanical issues, and assisting with routine maintenance tasks to keep equipment in safe working condition.

The Heavy Equipment Operator will help with material handling, grading, trenching, and site preparation, while adhering to safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and company procedures.

Collaboration with crew members, clear communication, and consistent attention to safety and efficiency are essential aspects of this position.

Qualifications
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including excavators, loaders, and similar machinery (Equipment Operation, Heavy Equipment)
  • Experience with excavation tasks, trenching, grading, and site preparation in heavy civil or marine construction environments (Excavation)
  • Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance procedures, inspections, and troubleshooting to keep machinery in serviceable condition (Equipment Maintenance)
  • Familiarity with the use and evaluation of used equipment, including recognizing wear, performance issues, and safety concerns (Used Equipment)
  • Previous experience in construction, heavy civil, or marine projects preferred, with a strong focus on safety and compliance with OSHA and company standards
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, site plans, and safety guidelines, and to communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members
  • Physically able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift and carry materials as required, and perform tasks that involve standing, bending, and climbing
  • Valid driver’s license; applicable equipment operator certifications or licenses are a plus
  • Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to work flexible hours as project needs require
