Job summary

Alvin Independent School District seeks an experienced heavy equipment operator to drive, control, and service construction equipment on school campuses. The role supports Maintenance and Operations to ensure facilities are safe, clean, and ready for educational use.

A minimum of 2 years in a related field is expected. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Texas Driver's license (Class C); CDL is a plus and other heavy equipment licensure may be required.

Qualifications

Job description

Primary Purpose

Responsible for driving, controlling and servicing heavy duty construction equipment in order to maintain the resources of Maintenance and Operations to develop campuses in a condition of operating excellence, appearance and safety, so that educational use of the facilities can be obtained.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Texas Driver's license (Class C)
• CDL license a plus
• Other heavy equipment licensure if required

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Hand & foot coordination operating multiple levers, buttons, pedals and controls at the same time
• Ability to read gauges, dials and other indicators and react mechanically to what you are seeing.
• Coordinate your actions with others workers on busy job sites.
• Ability to detect and fix operating problems.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment
• Knowledge of basic vehicle operation and maintenance
• Familiar with electronic work order systems

Experience

At least 2 years' experience in related field.

Salary

AUX PG 5 / 261days
Starting: $18.22 per hour
