North Slope Borough seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trainee to service, diagnose and repair light, medium and heavy duty equipment. This position becomes subject to federally mandated testing upon obtaining a CDL in the first year; a pre-employment test is required for a related pay increase.
Duties include daily inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs, welding, and record-keeping. You may travel to borough villages and could work non-traditional hours as needed.

To gain the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to Service, Diagnose and Repair light, medium and heavy duty equipment, Perform Minor and Major repairs to include over hauling engines, drive trains, hydraulic systems and electrical systems.

Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures;
High school graduate or G.E.D or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
