A leading heavy equipment company in Deadhorse, Alaska, seeks a skilled technician to repair and maintain various machinery for operations in arctic conditions. Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in heavy equipment repair.
  • Experience with various machinery including man lifts and loaders.
  • Clean driving record and 'A' Alaska CDL licensing may be required.
  • Minimum of a 5 year clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain diverse heavy equipment operations.
  • Perform welding and cutting tasks as needed.
  • Ensure a safe working environment during operations.
  • Performs welding (AC/DC stick, MIG) and cutting using oxy-acetylene methods.
  • Resolves and repairs equipment failures and mechanical issues as directed.
  • Maintains a safe working environment.

Description

Job Summary: Repair and maintain heavy equipment for our North Slope operations.

Schedule: 84 Hour Weeks, 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off

Pay: $DOE$

Representative Duties
  • Performs diverse repair tasks, including electrical and mechanical.
  • Operates and safely uses diesel engines, hydraulics & pneumatic operating equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains light and heavy equipment.
  • Performs AC/DC stick welding, mig welding the use of oxy-acetylene methods of cutting and welding.
  • Resolves and repairs equipment failures and mechanical issues as directed.
  • Maintains a safe working environment.
Required Skills
  • Ability to work in the arctic environment and knowledge of arctic weather conditions
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge of repair techniques and requirements for mechanical, electronic, and other diverse equipment systems.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions for operating and repairing motorized vehicles, equipment and tools.
  • Skills in analyzing and resolving heavy equipment operation and maintenance problems.
  • Skills in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Skills in operating power equipment and hand tools.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers and community project representatives.
  • Skills in tracking and maintaining records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED, AND five (5) years experience in heavy equipment repair. Must have experience with man lifts, all terrain forklifts, cranes, loaders, heaters, light plants, generators, etc.

Additional Requirements

Depending on the need of the organization, incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain 'A' Alaska CDL licensing and any additional certifications or training in one or more specialty areas. May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations. Minimum of a 5 year clean driving record required.

Minimum Physical Requirements

The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires frequent exposure to hazardous work environments with heavy machinery, hazardous materials and extreme weather conditions. Position requires frequent climbing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling and working in cramped positions.
