Job summary

Hualapai Nsn seeks a Mechanic to support the HDOT/ Road Maintenance Program by repairing and performing preventive maintenance on automotive, specialized vehicles, and construction equipment, including heavy‑duty trucks, excavators, and loaders. The position requires ASE certification (or a plan to obtain within 1–2 years), 3–10 years of heavy equipment/diesel experience, and a valid driver's license.

This is a full-time, non-exempt role with standard safety requirements and potential on-call

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be ASE certified OR have a plan to obtain ASE certification within 1–2 years of hire.
  • Heavy equipment/diesel mechanic experience: 3–10 years preferred.
  • Must submit to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and perform maintenance on automotive, specialized vehicles, and construction equipment (including heavy-duty trucks, excavators, bulldozers, and loaders).
  • Track vehicle usage, coordinate maintenance schedules, monitor costs, and recommend upgrades.
  • Oversee and maintain tribal fleet fuel dispensing system and fuel records.
  • Respond to emergency road repair/service within 30 minutes and during off-hours as required.
  • Perform welding and maintain accurate vehicle records in iWorQs.
