Job summary

Akima Global Logistics (AGL) seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Army tactical and heavy equipment at a contractor-managed turn-in site. You will ensure equipment is serviceable, safe, and compliant with TMs, regulations, and contract requirements.

You will document inspections, perform PMCS, and coordinate with supply and inspectors. A 3–5 year background with military or heavy equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience may substitute.
  • 3–5 years of mechanic experience on military or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with U.S. Army maintenance standards and TMs.
  • Ability to obtain CAC (Common Access Card).
  • Valid driver’s license and real ID.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical inspections on heavy equipment, tactical vehicles, and MHE during the turn-in process.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system faults.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance per Army TMs and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Record inspections and repairs using Army forms (DA 2404/5988-E, GCSS-Army).
  • Assist supply and property accountability staff in updating records.
