ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Part Time On Call Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our vehicle sustainment team. This is a remote position.
The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Research, plan, design, and develop new applications for electro-mechanical equipment and systems; review contractor standards, specifications, and documentation to determine mechanical engineering requirements.
- Design, repair, or review gas and diesel engines, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation, and instrumentation systems using analytical methods to ensure systems meet specifications.
- Gather and analyze data, perform routine engineering research, calculations, and tests to develop new applications or upgrade hardware.
- Guide and assist technicians in fabrication and installation of mechanical equipment and systems to ensure conformance with design and customer specifications.
- Evaluate field installations, recommend design modifications, and review drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Travel 100% to various worksites in the United States, Europe, and the Pacific Region.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of mechanical experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, OR 7+ years of experience with a trade school certification or associate degree, OR 9+ years of experience.
- Experience with tactical and commercial wheeled vehicles, tracked vehicles, power generators, or construction equipment.
- Proven maintenance, repair, and technical experience, with a background in industrial manufacturing, commercial maintenance, or military operations.
- Experience with maintenance support, troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to the component level.
- Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, and multi-meters; applying troubleshooting procedures to isolate faults.
- Willingness to travel as needed within the U.S., Europe, and the Pacific region, and work 40+ hours on missions of varying length.
- Valid Driver’s License, ability to pass a drug screening, and a High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Freightliner, Volvo, Iveco, International, or military tractors (e.g., M915, M916, M1070 HET, M1300 EHET).
Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch, kneel, push, pull, reach, work in high noise areas, lift 50 lbs, and handle small parts.
- Ability to work with computers, CRTs, and type on a keyboard.
