Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems on various heavy equipment at a marine terminal. The equipment includes excavators, haul trucks, trucks, forklifts, and mobile equipment from leading brands such as Caterpillar, Bobcat, Komatsu, and John Deere. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional troubleshooting abilities and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems of heavy equipment.
  2. Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment safety and reliability.
  3. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with minimal supervision.
  4. Maintain accurate maintenance records and document all repairs performed.
  5. Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment availability and efficiency.
  6. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, with expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
  • TWIC Card or eligibility to obtain one is required.
  • Ability to pass an in-person interview, medical examination, drug test, and background check.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
