Job summary

MaineGuide in the United States is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles to keep our operations running safely and efficiently. The right candidate will diagnose problems, perform preventative maintenance, and work independently while collaborating with the operations team.

A valid driver's license is required; CDL or related certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs
  • Experience working on heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, dump trucks, or similar equipment
  • Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to safely lift, bend, climb, and work around heavy equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • CDL and/or relevant technical certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction and/or industrial equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on equipment
  • Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other issues
  • Repair and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, and other mechanical components
  • Perform equipment inspections and identify potential problems before they result in downtime
  • Complete repairs and maintenance accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain service records and document repairs, parts, and maintenance performed
  • Work with operators and supervisors to identify equipment issues and prioritize repairs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements
  • Assist with emergency or field repairs as needed
  • Other duties related to equipment maintenance and repair

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles to keep our operations running safely and efficiently.
