North Texas Municipal Water District is seeking a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to maintain and repair machinery at the Regional Disposal Facility. Under minimal supervision, you will work on heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, landfill compactors, and dump trucks, performing preventive maintenance and diagnostics to keep operations safe and efficient.

Under minimal supervision, participates in a wide variety of skilled duties focusing on preventative and corrective maintenance involved in the installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of heavy equipment mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, equipment and machinery used in the operation of the District’s Regional Disposal Facility (Landfill Operations) ; and performs related duties as assigned. This position performs skilled maintenance work in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, bulldozers, landfill compactors, articulated dump trucks, motor graders, tippers, transfer station tampers, etc.
Driving a District vehicle for business will be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current, valid, and vehicle - appropriate driver' s license of their resident state.
This position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes up to 50 pounds on a daily basis in order to repair and service equipment while using various hand tools and equipment. Working conditions include exposure to weather, odor, noise, gases and dust. Hand and power tools including impact wrenches, drill press and lathe, welding equipment, pickup truck, service truck, emergency lighting equipment and safety equipment.
