Job summary

Binderholz Enfield is seeking a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Enfield, NC (Full Time). You will diagnose, maintain, and repair a wide range of heavy equipment to ensure reliability of our timber mill operations. Expect a day shift and a hands-on role with strong safety focus.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of diesel/heavy equipment experience, strong problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. Valid driver’s license and physical fitness to lift up to 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
• Strong hands-on experience with heavy machinery and diesel engines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and in a high-noise environment.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform essential physical tasks, including walking, bending, and climbing stairs.
• Strong computer literacy for managing machine control systems and software updates.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be dependable.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Knowledge: Servicing heavy machinery such as log loaders, wheel loaders, forklifts, and diesel power units.
• Core Technical Skills: Diagnosing and repairing high-pressure hydraulic systems, cylinders, valves, and powertrains.
• Shop Capabilities: Mechanical troubleshooting, welding, and fabrication in the shop.
• Tools & Safety: Owns standard mechanic tools and maintains safety in a high-risk environment.

About the Role

Binderholz Enfield is seeking a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanic who is skilled in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of heavy equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the continued reliability and performance of our machinery, which is essential for the operation of our plant.

• Day Shift 5:45 AM to 6:15 PM - 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off (alternating weekly)

What You'll Do

• Equipment Knowledge: Proven experience servicing heavy machinery like log loaders, wheel loaders, forklifts, debarkers, conveyor systems, and diesel industrial power units.
• Core Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in diagnosing and repairing high-pressure hydraulic systems, cylinders, valves, and heavy-duty powertrains.
• Shop Capabilities: Skilled in mechanical troubleshooting, welding, and fabrication to repair or reinforce equipment components directly in the shop.
• Tools & Safety: Ownership of standard mechanic's hand tools and a strict safety-first mindset suited for a high-risk, moving-machinery sawmill environment.
