Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking an Equipment Mechanic in Brownsville, TX to diagnose, troubleshoot, and service a wide range of heavy equipment. You will perform routine maintenance, manage parts, and coordinate with yard managers to keep operations running smoothly.

The role requires a vocational/technical background with hydraulic, electrical, and diesel maintenance experience. Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are a plus, and applicants must pass a drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical degree preferred.
• Hydraulic, electrical and diesel maintenance experience highly desired.
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
• Must pass drug screen, physical and background check.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics, troubleshooting and service on fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, cooling and hydraulic systems on equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil/filter changes and lubrication.
• Maintain accurate service records.
• Order and manage spare parts inventory.
• Coordinate with yard General Managers for maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.
• Use of company vehicles, equipment and PPE according to safety rules.

Responsibilities for an Equipment Mechanic

• Conducts basic to moderately complex diagnostic, troubleshooting, and service and repair tasks for fuel, electrical, mechanical, brake, and cooling and hydraulic systems on a wide range of equipment.
• Completes routine maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake, etc.) on all Heavy Equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations.
• Maintains accurate service records on all work performed.
• Order and maintain spare parts inventory.
• Interact with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly working area.
• Safe and proper use of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
