Job summary

JT Russell & Sons is seeking a Full Time Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Albemarle, NC. The role focuses on safe and efficient maintenance of rock crushing equipment, earthmoving machinery, and paving tools, with oil changes and fluid maintenance included.

You will keep the fleet in top condition and uphold a clean, safe shop environment. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years as a mechanic, an insurable Driver’s License, and the ability to troubleshoot engine problems and perform precise

Qualifications

• Three+ years of experience as a mechanic.
• Insurable, clean Driver’s License required.
• Able to troubleshoot engine problems and perform repairs.
• Proficient with a wide range of equipment and tools (power, air, hand).
• Familiarity with welding processes and voltage meters.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Rock crushing equipment, earthmoving machinery, and paving tools.
• Change oil and other fluids; maintain fleet in top condition.
• Keep organized, clean shop environment and practice good housekeeping.
• Ensure safety standards and high-quality workmanship are met.

Your role as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic

As a Full Time Heavy Equipment Mechanic at JT Russell & Sons, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient maintenance of our rock crushing equipment, earthmoving machinery, and paving tools. This position requires you to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all company-owned vehicles, including dump trucks and pickups, ensuring they operate smoothly and safely. You will be responsible for changing oil and other essential fluids, keeping our fleet in top condition. Additionally, you'll maintain an organized and clean shop environment, where good housekeeping is emphasized. What we're looking for in a Heavy Equipment Mechanic

To excel as a Full Time Heavy Equipment Mechanic at JT Russell & Sons, you will need a solid foundation of mechanical skills and experience. A minimum of 3 years working as a mechanic is essential, along with an insurable, clean Driver’s License. You should be adept at troubleshooting engine problems and performing accurate repairs. Proficiency in operating a wide variety of equipment and tools, including power, air, and hand tools, is crucial for success in this role.

Additionally, familiarity with welding processes and using a Voltage Meter will enhance your capabilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a respectful willingness to deliver quality work within tight timeframes in an ever-changing environment. Your prior experience withhand and power tools, as well as shop equipment, will be invaluable in helping keep our machinery and vehicles in prime condition.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• 3+ years working as a mechanic
• Insurable, clean Driver’s License

• Operating a wide variety of equipment including power, air, and hand tools.
• Respectfully showing willingness to get the job done right within a tight time frame in an ever changing environment.
