Job description

Vital Link is looking for a shipping and receiving laborer to add to the team. VLI is located in Sealy, Texas which is about 20 miles past Katy on I-10. The warehouse is an open air environment. There is cover from rain, but no central air or heat.

Duties

Perform all duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or technician to which the Clerk, Shipping & Receiving is assigned. This includes, but is not limited to material handling and general helper duties for the shipping & receiving department.

Label, package, box and crate items in accordance with project requirements.

Utilize common hand tools including, saws, hammers, nail guns, measuring devices, and other hand tools to properly manufacture wooden crates per instruction or plans provided by Shipping department.

Ship and receive goods and materials in accordance with company procedures and purchase order terms.

Accurately create and maintain shipping and receiving records and documentation both in paper and electronic format.

Ensure that all problems with equipment and machinery are promptly reported to the Maintenance Department for corrective action. Halt production on equipment and machinery if they cannot be safely operated.

Responsible to ensure that all supplies, equipment, and gear, and the shipping & receiving area in general, are kept in a neat and orderly manner.

Preferred

Experience working in an open air warehouse.

Experience building shipping crates of all sizes.

Experience operating a forklift and other similar types of equipment.
