Job summary

The Morgan County Highway Department seeks a full-time Mechanic to repair and maintain heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery. You will service the county and highway fleet, respond to breakdowns, and transport equipment for repair as needed.

A valid Indiana driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL within nine months are required. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and experience with electronics, welding, and hydraulics.

Responsibilities

• Repair all heavy equipment owned by Highway department and County.
• Repair all light equipment and vehicles including automobiles and pickups.
• Maintain fleet of Highway and Sheriff's department vehicles.
• Drive service vehicle to repair vehicles and equipment broken down in County.
• Load and deliver heavy equipment to County garage for repair.
• Operate heavy equipment to verify repairs.
