Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is hiring a Skilled Mechanic in Tyrone, NM to diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment including haul trucks, dozers, loaders and graders at a major open-pit operation.

Under direct supervision, you will perform diagnostic work, preventive maintenance on hydraulic/power train/engines and assist with component removal/installation. The role requires willingness to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 facility and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience in Heavy Equipment mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
• Ability to read and use schematics
• Knowledge of machine systems such as hydraulic, power train and engines
• Academic and practical competencies required and ability to pass required written assessment

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as haul trucks, water trucks, dozers, loaders and graders
• Assist with removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors and other components
• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventive maintenance on hydraulic, power train and engines
• May weld with Carbon ARC, Plasma, MIG, TIG or Stick processes
• Operate equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts
• Maintain work orders, keep a clean safe work area and perform inspections
• Perform other duties as required
