Qualdoc is seeking a Diesel Technician in Chesterfield, VA. This full-time, direct-hire role is on the 1st shift and pays starting at $24.00/hour, with higher pay possible based on experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance experience with heavy equipment, track equipment, trailers, cranes, or similar machinery.
• Two or more of hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, or other mechanical systems.
• High school diploma or GED plus trade school/ factory training in diesel repair.

• Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections and document work performed.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Diesel Technician to service and repair heavy equipment, trucks, track equipment, trailers, cranes, and other motorized machinery. The role includes preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and occasional travel to support equipment at other locations. Travel may involve emergency repairs, scheduled maintenance, training, seminars, meetings, or assignments at locations without an on-site mechanic. Per diem and overtime may be available for qualifying travel assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, track equipment, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled equipment inspections
• Follow repair priorities and daily assignments provided by the Shop Foreman
• Troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues to help minimize downtime
• Complete maintenance and repair work orders accurately and within required timeframes
• Record mileage, operating hours, dates, and details of completed work
• Report urgent and emergency repair needs to the Shop Foreman
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition
• Collaborate with other team members to complete maintenance and repairs efficiently
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and requirements
• Travel to other locations for equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, training, seminars, and meetings
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance experience working with heavy equipment, track equipment, trailers, cranes, or similar machinery
• At least 5 years of experience in two or more of the following technical areas:
  • Hydraulics
  • Electronics
  • Small engines
  • Air conditioning
  • Other related mechanical systems
• High school diploma/GED plus trade school, dealership, or factory training in diesel mechanical repair and maintenance equivalent to associate-level technical training
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize urgent repairs and perform effectively under pressure
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair are required/preferred as applicable
• Additional certifications may be required depending on assigned responsibilities

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, climbing, and carrying parts or materials
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work extended hours when necessary
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs
• Reduce items over 50 lbs. when possible
• Assistance is required for items weighing more than 75 lbs. or materials that present ergonomic challenges

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to other work locations is required. Assignments may include:

• Emergency equipment repairs
• Preventive maintenance
• Repair work at locations without an on-site mechanic
• Training
• Seminars
• Meetings
