Job summary

Temcon Concrete in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on heavy construction equipment, diesel-powered vehicles, trailers, and related machinery.

You will ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently, adhere to OSHA/DOT and manufacturer standards, and minimize downtime for field operations through routine service and troubleshooting. Experience with CAT/John Deere/Komatsu is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion of a diesel mechanic program or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of heavy equipment and diesel repair experience preferred.
• Experience with CAT, Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Case, Bobcat or similar equipment preferred.
• Ability to read service manuals, hydraulic schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems.
• CDL preferred or ability to obtain one.
• ASE, CAT, Cummins or other manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues on heavy equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Repair and service diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, and hoses.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring and lighting.
• Service air brake systems and DOT-regulated equipment.
• Weld and fabricate repairs as needed.
• Maintain maintenance records, repair orders and parts usage.
• Operate diagnostic software and coordinate with supervision on priorities.
• Test equipment after repairs to verify safe operation.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and respond to field service calls.
