Job summary

FNF Construction, Inc. in Tempe, AZ is hiring a Master Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy construction equipment and fleet vehicles. The Master Mechanic acts as a technical leader within the maintenance team to maximize uptime and ensure safe operations.

Travel may be required. This safety-sensitive role requires strong diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain expertise and the ability to lead maintenance activities and mentor junior mechanics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Extensive experience repairing heavy construction equipment and diesel-powered machinery.
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
• Experience using electronic diagnostic tools and software.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system failures.
• Perform preventive maintenance and schedule inspections on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.
• Repair and rebuild diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, and other major components.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and electronic controls.
• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns.
• Conduct field service repairs at active construction sites as needed.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and computerized troubleshooting tools.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
• Coordinate parts procurement and inventory requirements.
• Assist in prioritizing repairs to maximize equipment availability.
• Mentor and train mechanics, apprentices, and maintenance personnel.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA, DOT, and MSHA regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned
