Job summary

Good Earth Tools, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our Ballast Tools Equipment division to maintain and repair excavators and backhoes used in railway maintenance.

You will disassemble and repair components, diagnose faults with laptops, and perform preventive maintenance on company-owned machines. The role requires at least 2 years of heavy equipment repair experience or a technical certificate.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment repair experience or a technical certificate.
• Ability to diagnose using laptop computers, gauges, and instruments.
• Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Proficient with hand and power tools; basic welding skills.
• Able to work 40 hours per week with reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer’s specifications using hand and power tools.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulics on production machines; conduct preventive maintenance.
• Detect faults using diagnostic laptops, gauges, and instruments across electronics, hydraulics, powertrain and performance.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders and drawings to perform required service.
• Perform maintenance and repairs based on troubleshooting and diagnosis.
• Occasional operation of heavy equipment for testing and to determine repair needs.
• Occasional use of basic welding equipment.
