Job summary

The Navy Seabee Foundation is seeking a dependable HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I to perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment including haul trucks, dozers and loaders. Qualifications

• Two years of mechanical/maintenance craft experience or equivalent education and hands-on repair exposure.
• Completion of academic and practical competencies, including LOP requirements for internal progression.
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions and blueprints.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine systems and prioritize repairs with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment (haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders).
• Remove, repair and install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials and hydraulic/powertrain components.
• Maintain lubrication programs and inspect machine systems; operate cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks as needed.
• Weld using carbon arc, plasma, MIG, TIG and stick welding; act as Fill-in Supervisor when required.
• Train and mentor other employees; maintain work orders and conduct area inspections.
