Job summary

Stowers Machinery Corporation in East Tennessee is seeking a skilled technician to diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment in the shop. You will document findings, parts used, and repairs, and communicate with shop leadership about equipment condition and recommended actions.

The role requires reading service manuals and schematics, using diagnostic tools, and adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, shop equipment, and repair procedures.
• Strong communication skills for reporting findings and coordinating with shop leadership.
• Ability to complete accurate documentation and follow established processes.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, PPE requirements, and shop best practices.
• Hands-on experience with heavy equipment diagnostics and repair.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar service systems and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume shop environment.
• Ability to lift, carry, or move heavy components and tools as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment in the shop.
• Complete preventative maintenance services including fluid changes, inspections, and adjustments.
• Document all findings, parts used, and repair actions in work orders.
• Communicate equipment condition and recommended repairs to supervisors.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.
• Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Assist with moving equipment in and out of the shop as needed.
• Support warranty repair processes and proper documentation.
