Job summary

Chain Electric Company is seeking a heavy equipment operator to operate a variety of contractor equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities on transmission systems.

The role requires 18 months of operator experience, a valid Class A CDL, DOT medical certification, and a Certified Crane Operator license. Candidates should be able to travel and work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent is preferred.
• 18 months of experience as an operator.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License - Class A.
• DOT Medical Certification.
• Certified Crane Operator license.

Responsibilities

• Operate stationary or traveling cranes to position, move, and lift loads such as materials, equipment, and machinery.
• Operate trucks of various sizes and weights for loading, hauling and unloading equipment and supplies.
• Follow safety practices and report unsafe conditions or practices.
• Safely drive and operate company vehicles, digger derrick, backhoes, boom and pole trucks, fork lift and power tools.
• Assist with maintenance, washing, and proper care of equipment and PPE.
• Be near the work area to anticipate crew needs and prepare tools for tasks.
• Assist in getting the job ready, frame poles, dig pole holes, set poles or pull wire.

Job Summary:

The heavy equipment operator operates a variety of contractor equipment and trucks used in the construction, maintenance and repair activities and perform a variety of semiskilled tasks on the transmission systems.

Requirements

• Operate both stationary or traveling cranes to position, move, and lift loads such as bulk materials, products, equipment, and machinery.
• Hoisting attachments such as buckets, hooks, and slings will be used.
• Operate trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials and supplies.
• Comply with safety practices, rules, and regulations while performing job duties and follow company procedure in reporting unsafe conditions or practices.
• Safely drive and operate company vehicles, digger derrick, backhoes, boom and pole trucks, fork lift, and safely operate power tools.
• Facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Verify proper grounding of truck.
• Assist in performing maintenance as needed.
• Assist with washing and maintaining equipment in proper working order.
• Assist with cleaning protective equipment (hot sticks and rubber goods) and keep PPE in good condition.
• Be in close proximity of work area to anticipate the needs of the crew, prepare tools and operate equipment for crew members for the particular work being performed.
• Assist in the make ready process for the job task, frame poles on the ground, dig pole holes, set poles or pull wire.
• Keep work areas clean and organized. Pick up scrap wire, discarded materials, etc.
• Work as a team and fulfill any and all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education:

High School graduate or GED preferred.

Experience:

18 months as an Operator

Certificates & Licenses:

• Possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License - Class A
• Pass and maintain DOT Medical Certification
• Certified Crane Operator license

Other Requirements:

• Pass a drug screen
• A good driving record
• Handle physically demanding construction duties in harsh weather conditions.
• Travel and willingness to work away from home for extended periods of time
• Available to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays as needed
