Responsibilities

  • Comply with safety practices, rules, and regulations and report unsafe conditions.
  • Safely drive and operate company vehicles, digger derrick, backhoes, boom and pole trucks, forklift, and power tools.
  • Assist in alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
  • Verify proper grounding of truck.
  • Assist in maintenance of equipment as needed.
  • Assist with washing and maintaining equipment in proper working order.
  • Keep PPE in good condition and clean protective equipment.
  • Be in close proximity to work area to anticipate crew needs and prepare tools.
  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools.
  • Assist in make-ready for job tasks, frame poles on ground, dig pole holes, set poles or pull wire.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized; remove scrap wire and discarded materials.
  • Safely control traffic near work zones.
  • Keep unauthorized people away from work area.
  • Shovel work.
  • Work as a team and fulfill other duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Summary:

The operator operates equipment and performs work associated with electrical distribution systems as directed by Foreman.

Requirements
All Operators will be expected to perform the following functions:
  • Comply with safety practices, rules, and regulations while performing job duties and follow company procedure in reporting unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Safely drive and operate company vehicles, digger derrick, backhoes, boom and pole trucks, fork lift, and safely operate power tools.
  • Facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
  • Verify proper grounding of truck.
  • Assist in performing maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with washing and maintaining equipment in proper working order.
  • Assist with cleaning protective equipment (hot sticks and rubber goods) and keep PPE in good condition.
  • Be in close proximity of work area to anticipate the needs of the crew, prepare tools and operate equipment for crew members for the particular work being performed.
  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools.
  • Assist in the make ready process for the job task, frame poles on the ground, dig pole holes, set poles or pull wire.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized. Pick up scrap wire, discarded materials, etc.
  • Safely control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
  • Keep unauthorized people away from work area.
  • Shovel work
  • Work as a team and fulfill any and all other duties and tasks as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 6 month's experience in related field
  • Available to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Possess at minimim a valid CDL-B license
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment
  • Ability to handle physically demanding construction duties in harsh weather conditions
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Ability to assist with maintenance of equipment, as needed
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
