Job summary

Southern Tire Mart in Port Wentworth, GA, is seeking a Heavy Duty Truck and Trailer Technician to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semis and trailers. You will perform PM inspections, fleet servicing, and roadside support as needed, using diagnostic tools and maintaining thorough service records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30-250 lbs, with or without mechanical aids).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including brakes, HVAC systems, drivetrains, electrical systems.
• Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.
• Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).
• Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).
• Maintain detailed records of work performed.
• Adhere to safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.
• Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck when required.
