Job summary

Signature Truck Systems in Clio, MI is seeking a heavy-duty trailer and truck repair technician for a first shift role. You’ll diagnose brakes, suspensions, and related systems on tractors and trailers, with no weekend work and paid weekday hours.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of heavy-duty truck or trailer repair experience.
• Air brake and/or heavy-duty suspension experience.
• Your own toolbox and hand tools (tool list provided).
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, bend, and squat throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair brakes (air brakes), wheel seals, suspensions on tractors and trailers.
• Maintain and repair on pressurized transport trailers.
• Weld and fabricate (MIG/TIG) for custom work like moving axles or adding gates/cabinets.
• Complete DOT inspections and maintain accurate service records.
• Operate forklift and overhead crane as part of daily shop work.
• Work on top of trailer tanks and inside tanks as needed with safety procedures taught.

This role focuses on trailers and chassis: brakes, suspension, welding, fabrication, and custom up-fits. No engine work. What You’ll Do

Good to Know

This is a safety-sensitive role. Offers are contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen (including marijuana) and a criminal background check. Some tasks require a tight‑fitting respirator, so you must be clean‑shaven where the mask seals to your face. Facial hair that doesn’t interfere with the seal may be OK, case by case. If you have questions, ask us in the interview.

A Plus, but We'll Train the Right Person

• MIG/TIG welding and torch cutting
• Hydraulics and vehicle up-fitting experience
• Reading blueprints and doing shop math
• State certification in heavy-duty trucks (drive train, brakes, electrical, suspension). If you don't have it yet, you'll need to get it within 6 months of hire
