Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Role Description

The Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Saginaw MI, responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment used in electrical utility projects. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The mechanic will inspect vehicles and equipment for wear, damage, and safety compliance, maintain accurate service records, and communicate repair needs and timelines to supervisors. The role also involves responding to urgent breakdowns, supporting field crews with mobile repairs, and adhering to company safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in equipment and vehicle maintenance, including Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance.
• Proficiency in heavy-duty equipment work, including Heavy Equipment handling and servicing.
• Experience in diagnosing and resolving issues, including Equipment Repair and Troubleshooting.
• Previous experience as a fleet, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in construction or utility environments.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems commonly found in heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
• Commitment to safety practices and compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment mechanics is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) or ability to obtain one is preferred.
• Ability to work on-site in Chicago, IL, including occasional overtime and field support as needed.
