Job summary

Waste Pro is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic A (Heavy Duty Fleet Technician) in Pompano Beach, FL. Earn $35.00–$45.00 per hour with a $10,000 sign-on bonus. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of medium- and heavy-duty Class 8 vehicles.
• CDL Class B license preferred, or the ability to obtain a CDL Class B license.
• Ability to obtain seven ASE Certifications, or the equivalent, within 36 months of employment.
• Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements related to commercial vehicle fleet maintenance.
• Experience with diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, and emissions components.
• Perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and scheduled fleet maintenance to ensure vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant.
• Use OEM diagnostic software, onboard computer systems, and specialized diagnostic equipment to identify and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
• Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications, factory service manuals, and Waste Pro quality standards.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and other metal repairs as needed.
• Mentor and assist apprentice and junior technicians by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
• Accurately complete repair orders, inspections, and maintenance documentation in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while properly caring for company tools and equipment.
• Follow all OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and Waste Pro safety policies and procedures.
• Work closely with the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and Operations team to maximize fleet uptime and minimize equipment downtime.
• Respond to road calls and emergency repairs as needed to safely return vehicles to service.
• Perform additional duties and special projects assigned to support the maintenance department and overall operation.
