Job summary

Knife River in Casper, WY is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair a wide range of equipment in our local shop. The role requires the ability to work independently or as part of a team and to operate safely in extreme weather conditions.

Minimum qualifications include 2–4 years in mechanical work related to road construction equipment, with the ability to read manuals and diagnose problems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–4 years in mechanic field or maintaining road construction equipment, post high school, military, institutional or vocational environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment to keep it in safe working condition, including hydraulic, brake, engines, air compressors, transmissions, electrical repairs and welding.
• Troubleshoot maintenance problems by reading manuals and schematics to diagnose components and determine repair needs.
• Anticipate parts and supplies, disassemble equipment, fabricate parts when needed, and reassemble equipment.
• Communicate effectively with team and customers; work independently or in a team; maintain positive relations.
