Job summary

Knife River is seeking a skilled Mechanic to repair and maintain a range of heavy equipment including trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, loaders, and asphalt equipment. The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule with limited Saturdays, and involves diagnosing issues from job orders and field diagnostics.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of heavy equipment experience, relevant CDL/endorsements are a plus, and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with diesel and gasoline heavy equipment.
• Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
• GED or equivalent combination of experience.
• Flexible shifts including overtime and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Use manuals and power tools to repair and maintain equipment.
• Read job orders and diagnose malfunctions by listening to equipment in operation.
• Repair transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Ensure safety devices and guards are installed and functioning.
• Document preventative maintenance and repairs.
