Job summary

Stfrancis is seeking an intern in Alameda, CA to support field engineers with planning, documentation, and basic estimating. You will train teammates, read complex documents, and maintain records on progress and costs.

CAD proficiency and strong writing abilities are essential as you collaborate on submittals, RFIs, and change orders. The internship offers a structured summer program with flexible start/end dates, two-month minimum, and opportunities for living stipends and airfare/mileage

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
• Strong writing skills for presentations and articles, with ability to make persuasive arguments on complex topics.
• Proficiency with computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
• Understanding of calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory.
• Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to diverse problems.
• Capability to handle a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with other Field Engineers and independently to direct and plan efforts, ensuring work accuracy and completeness
• Train individuals on work processes and technical requirements as needed
• Maintain records related to job progress, costs, and material usage
• Assist in detailed planning and scheduling of jobs or job segments
• Investigate problems or incidents and recommend solutions or alternatives
• Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing
• Coordinate with suppliers to handle and expedite material delivery
• Support project estimating including quantity take-offs
• Assist with Submittals, RFIs, and Change Orders
• Perform other duties as assigned
