Job summary

Forefront Education Program is seeking an engineering assistant to help design and develop site plans, grading, drainage, and utilities under a senior engineer. You will prepare calculations, drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and assist with reports and construction documents.

You will conduct site visits, support coordination, ensure safety standards, and participate in meetings with contractors and vendors. The role emphasizes communication and learning established engineering principles.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to visit job sites to inspect existing conditions and document potential scope of work.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods working on a computer and viewing a screen.
• Ability to learn and apply established engineering principles to solve problems using sound judgment, independent decision making, and prolonged focus.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Assist in project design and development, including site plans, grading, drainage, and utility designs under senior engineer supervision.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Civil 3D; support technical reports and construction documents.
• Conduct site visits and field investigations to collect data, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with design standards and safety protocols.
• Support project coordination and scheduling, maintain documentation, and assist with permits and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in meetings, work with contractors and vendors, and contribute to sustainable design and environmental compliance.
• Research and stay updated on industry standards to support innovative engineering solutions and uphold best practices.
• Prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, make necessary changes, and conduct site inspections per California Water Resources Control Board permits.
