Job summary

KLB Construction, LLC is seeking an estimator experienced in heavy civil construction to join our team in Everett, WA. You will develop detailed cost estimates for earthwork, utilities, environmental, energy, and roadway projects.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of heavy civil estimating experience, strong data analysis, ability to interpret drawings and specs, and comfort with subcontractor negotiations and prebid scheduling.

Qualifications

• Analytical and critical thinking with high accuracy in calculations and estimates.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to explain complex information to diverse audiences.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction projects, focused on earthwork and utilities.
• Ability to independently review and interpret contractual documents, drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze bid documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost and labor estimates.
• Conduct site visits and gather data to improve estimate accuracy.
• Utilize scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project) to construct prebid construction schedules.
• Solicit and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Present estimates to senior management and clients, explaining assumptions, logistics, costs, opportunities, and risks.

KLB Construction, LLC is seeking a skilled estimator or an experienced heavy-civil construction individual looking to start their estimating career. This is an exceptional opportunity for an analytical candidate with a strong background in heavy-civil construction who enjoys the dynamic environment of construction estimating. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for our heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, underground utilities, environmental, energy, and roadway construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze bid documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost and labor estimates.
• Conduct site visits and gather necessary data to improve estimate accuracy.
• Utilize project scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project) to construct prebid construction schedules.
• Solicit and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.

• Frequent interaction with people and technology throughout the workday.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for extended periods.
