Job summary

Harper Limbach is seeking a Service Technician to troubleshoot MEP systems for a diverse client base. This role is field-based, requiring extensive travel and direct customer interaction to diagnose and resolve issues, while maintaining accurate service records.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in MEP service, a universal EPA certification, and strong communication skills in English. Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google tools and a valid driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of MEP service experience in industrial, commercial, and/or building HVAC preventive maintenance.
• Universal EPA Certification and ability to explain complex HVAC issues to customers.
• Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft and Google products; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose problems within building systems and resolve or escalate as appropriate.
• Utilize HVAC diagnostic equipment to identify issues and determine solutions.
• Review blueprints/specifications to determine work details and procedures.
• Inspect equipment and facilities to identify causes of errors and safety hazards.
• Develop solutions with customers and upsell maintenance contracts when suitable.
• Direct apprentices and coach them in safe, quality execution of work.
• Produce detailed work reports to ensure accurate billing.

Job description

As Service Technician, you are primarily responsible for troubleshooting MEP systems for all Harper Limbach customers. This person will be counted on to quickly and efficiently diagnose problems, communicate the scope of effort out to customers, and identify the most cost-effective and timely solutions.

This Position…

Some examples of the work you might do includes:

• Diagnoses problems within building systems, and either resolves or escalates them as appropriate.
• Utilizes HVAC diagnostic equipment to identify systems issues.
• Reviews blueprints and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
• Leverages knowledge of building plans to inspect structures and locate key serviceable items.
• Keeps records of assignments and produces detailed work reports to ensure all billing is accurate.
• Works directly with customers to develop solutions to all concerns, issued in order of magnitude.
• Upsells on-going maintenance contracts to non-contract customers, when appropriate.
• Employs specialized techniques, equipment, and materials to accelerate the diagnostic process.
• Directs apprentices engaged in any type of repairs, and coaches them in the proper means and methods for quality, safe, and effective execution of required work.
• Services, repairs, adjusts, and tests mechanical devices and equipment.
• Inspects equipment, structures, and materials to identify the cause of errors, safety hazards, or other issues, and solutions or escalates them appropriately.
• All other duties as assigned.

What You Need…

• 6+ years of MEP service experience in industrial, commercial, and/or building HVAC preventive maintenance.
• Universal EPA Certification.
• Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft and Google products.
• Ability to explain complex HVAC issues to customers in a way they can understand.
• Exceptional time management skills.
• Must be fluent and able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must have a driving record compliant with the Company's policies and MVR requirements, and consent to ongoing driving record monitoring by the Company.
• Ability to travel locally up to 75% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completed OSHA 30-Hour Training.
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
