Job summary

RBC in Greenville, SC is seeking a heat-treat operator to load parts into furnaces and operate heat-treat equipment. You will set up processes per engineering drawings, monitor recording systems, and inspect parts with precision instruments to ensure correct hardness and timing.

The role requires reading drawings, basic computer skills, and the ability to work 3rd shift (11:00pm–7:00am) with overtime as needed. Candidates should maintain safety and contribute to LEAN activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Knowledge of quality inspection practices and precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Properly rack parts and load work into furnaces.
• Set up and operate heat-treat equipment with training, including Ipsen, Beavermatic, and Williams furnaces.
• Process parts per drawings and specifications for time, temperature, and hardness.
• Monitor process-recording systems and inspect equipment for proper operation.
• Inspect heat-treated parts using precision measuring equipment.
• Follow production schedules, report deviations, and complete documentation.
• Maintain housekeeping, follow safety rules, and participate in LEAN/6S/root-ccause analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Properly rack parts and load work into and out of furnaces
• With training, set up and operate various types of heat-treat equipment, including Ipsen, Beavermatic, and Williams furnaces.
• Process parts according to engineering drawings, written instructions, and customer specifications for time, temperature, and hardness.
• Monitor computer-based process-recording systems and visually inspect equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Inspect heat-treated parts using precision measuring equipment, including Rockwell hardness testers and Buehler testing equipment.
• Follow production schedules, report deviations or material shortages, and complete required production and quality documentation.
• Maintain good housekeeping, follow all company safety rules, and participate in LEAN, 6S, and root-cause analysis activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong mechanical, math, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to use computer-based production and process-monitoring systems.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and written work instructions.
• Knowledge of quality inspection practices and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work safely around industrial furnaces and heat-treat equipment.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• High school diploma or GED.
