Fontana in Indiana is hiring a Heat Treat Furnace Operator to operate and maintain the heat-treat furnace used to harden and temper steel fasteners. The role ensures safe operation of equipment and controls, maintains temperatures, soak times, and cooling according to specifications, and collaborates with a small team.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated with good communication, able to read instructions and blueprints, and comfortable documenting inspections and results in a fast-paced

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain furnace controls to meet process requirements.
• Inspect parts before and after heat-treating for conformance.
• Read and record computer controls for temperatures, soak and cooling times.
• Document non-conformances and issue rework notices.
• Maintain inspection documentation and lot tracing procedures.
• Participate in 5S housekeeping and workplace organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Heat Treat Furnace Operator

1st and 2nd shifts available

Wage Rate – $18.64-25.90

The Heat Treat Furnace Operator is responsible for operation and maintenance of the heat treat furnace, which is used to harden and temper the steel fasteners

This key role must ensure safe operation of the equipment and temperature instruments to ensure the steel stabilizes as required for the strength and utility needed for the specific fastener application. The Operator works with a small team and must be self-motivated and dependable.

About the role of a Heat Treat Furnace Operator

• Maintain furnace controls to meet specified requirements of the process
• Mechanically inclined, but not required.
• Inspect parts before and after the heat-treating operation for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and visual acuity
• Read and record computer controls such as the carbon controller to ensure required temperatures, soak time, and cooling times are maintained
• Document parts not meeting specifications and issue rejection notices or rework orders as needed
• Maintain required documentation of inspections and follow lot tracing protocols
• Participate in 5S housekeeping
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

• Previous heat treat experience
• Self-motivated; able to work without constant supervision

• Able to work in hot, oily, and noisy conditions
