Wayne County Public Schools is seeking a Heat Shop Service Mechanic I to install, maintain, and repair ventilation, boiler, and environmental control systems across district facilities.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift 50 pounds, and a valid driver's license. EPA Type I–III/Universal certification is required by policy. Starting salary ranges from $38,089 to $57,458 with experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of ventilation and environmental control systems.
  • EPA Type I, II, III, or Universal certification required by policy.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical labor.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical control circuits using test devices.
  • Replace faulty thermostats, wiring, and controls.
  • Check accuracy and calibrate electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems.
  • Clean, lubricate, and service ventilation, gas, and oil burners and environmental control equipment.
  • Install and set ventila tion and environmental control equipment.
  • Wire boiler controls and install piping and ductwork.
  • Balance distribution systems to achieve energy efficiency.
