Ball State University’s Heat Plant Operations is seeking aGroup Leader to supervise and guide a team responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and operation of the campus heat plant equipment. The role emphasizes safety, EPA/OSHA compliance, and timely execution of maintenance tasks.

The position requires an apprenticeship as a Stationary Engineer or equivalent six years of boiler plant experience, with a valid driver’s license and ability to perform physically demanding duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of an apprenticeship program as Stationary Engineer or six years of boiler plant experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to read and comprehend safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise inspections, maintenance, repair, replacement, and operation of heat plant equipment.
• Train Heat Plant staff in operation, maintenance, and repair procedures.
• Record tests and data from monitoring equipment and adjust as needed.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and all applicable regulations.
• Inspect tunnels and equipment and recommend maintenance projects.
• Act for supervisor when assigned and provide feedback on performance.
