Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a patient care support role to assist with direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. You will help promote patient comfort, family-centered care, and efficient unit operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; BLS/First Aid certification within 30 days.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.
• Willing to perform delegated tasks under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care and basic physical tasks as directed.
• Assist with activities of daily living and bedmaking.
• Safely transport patients and escorts for discharge.
• Transport specimens and items throughout the facility.
• Perform glucose monitoring, urine/stool tests, and record results per policy.
• Perform routine phlebotomy excluding line draws.
• Record vital signs and intake/output per policy.
• Provide respiratory support and encourage Incentive Spirometer use.
• Communicate patient concerns to RN.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; assist physicians and RNs.
• Assist with basic rehab/physical therapy activities.
• Maintain infection control and unit safety.
• Support routine unit operations and effective communication.
